No more difficult to study than the Dyslexia Certificate course

The Advanced Certificate course is no more diffcult o study than the Dyslexia Certificate course. There are no academic references, and each page of the course book contains illustrations, diagrams, explanations of terms used, and helpful descriptions from other students. If you have successfully completed the Dyslexia Certificate course, you will find the Advanced Certificate course equally helpful. The course takes you on to learn more techniques which you can use with any dyslexic child.

Teacher helping a boy to readTwo routes to learning

As with the Dyslexia Certificate course, there are two routes through the course, which have been provided to meet individual students' training needs:
The Regular or Standard Route:
On this Route, students will study the course book and CD-Rom, and learn about teaching a dyslexic child without actually working through the Practical Exercises with a child at the time. For this Route, there are five short Assignments.
The Practical Route:
On this Route, students will choose 15 short Practical exercises (three for each Module) to carry out one-on-one with a child who is, or may be, dyslexic, or who is having difficulties with reading, spelling, writing or math/s.
A Mixture of the Two Routes:
The course is flexible, and for each Module, students may choose whether they wish to follow the Regular/Standard Route or the Practical Route.

Course materials

The course materials consist of:

The course book (200+ pages) in full color throughout.
The CD-Rom containing 45 short films, 69 worksheets, and other documents.
The website, with more course information, worksheets, research, and the Students' Advanced Certificate Discussion Group.
The online Advanced Certificate Discussion Group to which all students (and ex-students) may contribute, ask questions, clarify details, etc.
Text book choice. Students may choose one book (or more) from a list of recommended books, according to their own interests and the age-group which they are teaching. Full details of each book are provided on the course website.

Straightforward assignments

Assignments must be sent in by email.

Grades

There are two possible grades for each Module: Pass or Repeat. An Advanced Certificate is awarded when a student has achieved a Pass grade in each of the five Modules. If a student is asked to repeat a piece of work, advice will be provided about how it may be improved, and students may repeat Assignments as many times as they wish.

Feedback about the course

The Advanced Course has helped me enormously to support my elder son. I was delighted when the advanced course was brought out so that I can learn more to help my children and, in time, to support other children with similar difficulties, as a tutor or SEN teacher, (S.M., Bucks, UK).
