THE COURSE BOOK

The course book is more than 200 pages in length and has been designed to give students further practical techniques for teaching a dyslexic child. Written in straightforward language, and avoiding particularly technical words when a simpler word conveys the same meaning, the course book is based on the very latest research evidence.

Technical words are explained in 'Text boxes' or 'bubbles' throughout the course book.

 

The pages of the course book are arranged so that large blocks of text are for the most part avoided. Every page has illustrations, practical exercises and diagrams.

The combined expertise of Direct Learning and the Dyslexia Teacher team have been used to the full in designing the content and layout of the advanced course.

The 45 short films and 69 documents in the CD-Rom provide further course materials. The films show a child doing the exercises in Appendices C, D, and E. The worksheets from the course Modules can be printed out and used immediately. Each worksheet has been developed to serve a particular purpose, especially in developing a child's or teenager's visual tracking skills.

The course website gives you access to the Advanced Dyslexia Certificate Students' Discussion Group. It is your main point of contact with us and with other students once you have registered as a student.

The website contains a range of important articles and worksheets which are referred to in the course book.

The online Advanced Certificate Students' Discussion Group allows students to raise any points they find confusing, and to ask questions. Like any good discussion, everyone is free to join in.
