Crossroads
Dyslexic Centre at U2KAN. Our aim is to:
- empower
people with dyslexia to help themselves
- educate
the public about dyslexia
- encourage
people with dyslexia to achieve their personal best.
We
are making arrangements to get together professionals involved in eye science,
dyslexia assessment, hearing, speech and language from cradle to grave for people
with dyslexia.
One of our functions as a local dyslexic centre is to support
and empower people with dyslexia and their families. So do not suffer in vain!

awareness of the condition to the public, schools and teaching colleges. We offer
regular teacher and parent workshops. Organise conferences about the condition.
Campaign for the implementation of special education needs in schools curriculum.
Promote multi-sensory teaching methods in schools. We have specialist dyslexia
teachers and hold after schools clubs. In January we would be able to provide
dyslexia assessment for children. The office is based in The Gambia, but we would
be opening a office in Dakar on January 18th and in Sierra Leone January 24th
2005.
